Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was named the American League Player of the Week by MLB for July 1-7. It is the fourth career weekly award for Beltre and his second in the American League as a Ranger.

Beltre batted .478 (11-for-23) with four home runs, two doubles and five RBIs in six games last week. He led the AL in home runs, slugging (1.087), OPS (1.607), total bases (25) and extra-base hits (6) while producing the fourth-highest batting average. Beltre hit safely in all six games and had four multiple-hit games. He had the 24th multi-homer game of his career with a pair of long balls on July 4 against Seattle.

Beltre was previously selected as AL Player of the Week for Aug. 20-26, 2012, the last Ranger to be so honored. He was recognized in the National League for Aug. 21-27, 2000, and June 21-27, 2004 (shared with Houston’s Roy Oswalt).
