ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Rangers go for a three-game sweep against the Los Angeles Angels when left-hander Martin Perez faces Halos right-hander Jerome Williams at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and Deportes 1540 AM.
Perez (3-3, 4.37): Perez tries to turn around a rough stretch where he has allowed four earned runs or more in three consecutive starts. He is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA during the stretch as his season ERA has gone from 2.08 to 4.37. ... Perez took a no-decision in an 11-inning loss at Cleveland on Friday. He allowed a career-high seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in three innings. ... Perez is 3-2 with 4.28 ERA in his seven starts since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on June 22. ... He is 1-1 with a 1.96 ERA in three home starts. ... Perez has faced the Angels once, pitching in relief and allowing two singles in a scoreless inning.
Williams (5-7, 4.85): Williams, who has also pitched out of the bullpen for the Angels, makes his 15th start and third appearance against the Rangers this season. Williams has five shutout innings against Texas in his first two appearances. ... For his career, he is 1-0 with a 6.68 ERA against the Rangers, but he did win his only career start against Texas. ... Williams has allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last five start and is 0-4 with a 12.50 ERA July starts. ... Williams allowed four earned runs in five innings against Oakland on Friday.
