ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Rangers try to avoid a sweep of a three-game series against the Oakland A's when left-hander Martin Perez faces right-hander Jarrod Parker at 2:05 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and 1540-AM.

Perez (9-4, 3.60): Perez had a six-game winning streak snapped Tuesday when the Rangers lost to Pittsburgh 5-4. ... He allowed four runs on nine hits in five innings of work, spoiling his first try at his 10th win of the season. ... His 73 pitches were a season low and the five innings worked made for his shortest start since July 26 at Cleveland. ... Perez has issued two or fewer walks in 14 of his 16 starts this season. ... He has the second most wins for a rookie in the American League behind Oakland's Dan Straily, who beat the Rangers on Friday night for his 10th win. ... Perez had an AL-best five wins in August. ... Perez makes his fifth career start against Oakland, his most against any opponent. ... He is 2-2 with a 6.35 ERA against the A's.

Parker (11-6, 3.55 ERA): Parker is 9-0 with a 2.61 ERA for his last 19 starts and hasn't lost since May 22 against the Rangers. ... He has a .209 opponents batting average against during that span. ... His nine-game winning streak is a career high and it's the third longest streak in the majors this season. ... Parker allowed two runs in seven innings in a start Tuesday in Minnesota, leaving with the lead before the Twins rallied for a 4-3 win. ... He has mystified the Rangers, going 6-1 with a 2.93 ERA for seven starts in his career. ... The six wins are his most against any team.
