ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers made several roster moves prior to Thursday’s game with the Colorado Rockies at Globe Life Park.

Texas purchased the contracts of infielder Rougned Odor from Double-A Frisco along with infielder Luis Sardinas and right-handed reliever Justin Germano from Triple-A Round Rock.

To make room, the Rangers placed infielder Donnie Murphy on the 15-day disabled list with a neck strain and designated for assignment infielder Josh Wilson and right-handed relief pitcher Scott Baker.

Manager Ron Washington said he plans to use Odor, batting .279 with seven home runs at Frisco, as his regular season baseman. The 20-year-old Venezuelan is in the lineup tonight.

“Right now, he’s the hottest thing in Double A,’’ Washington said.

The manager said he has no plans on platooning the left-handed hitting Odor. “We’ll let him face them all starting out and go from there.’’

Washington expects to use Sardinas, who spent eight days with the club in April, for infield depth.

Germano is needed for insurance in a bullpen that has been used heavily in the previous three games.

Baker pitched well in relief in Wednesday’s 9-2 loss to the Rockies, but Washington said the Rangers needed a fresh arm.

“It’s very tough for Scott Baker,’’ the manager said. “He did a heck of job putting four zeros up against those guys.’’
