ARLINGTON, Texas -- Elvis Andrus is becoming an expert on double-play partners.

The Texas Rangers debuted another second baseman in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Colorado Rockies, 20-year-old Rougned Odor.

"I love this kid," Andrus said. "He brings a lot of energy to the table."

Odor and Andrus combined on a very important double play in the second inning when the Rockies loaded the bases in a scoreless game. Odor started it by gloving Michael McKenry's ground ball.

"He gave me a perfect feed," Andrus said. "We have worked together before, but it was in spring training. I enjoy playing with a young kid willing to learn."

Odor called his part of the double-play routine: "It is something I practice every day."

But adding to the difficulty, it was the first time he touched the baseball in a major-league game. He finished with two assists and one putout defensively. At the plate, he was 0-for-4 with two groundouts and fly balls to left and right.

But while hitless, he didn't appear overmatched.

Odor said he wasn't nervous at the plate because he had faced Colorado starter Franklin Morales before in Venezuela.
