ARLINGTON, Texas -- J.P. Arencibia is beginning to wonder when the breaks are going to start to even out.

After an 0-for-3 in Friday’s 8-0 win over the Boston Red Sox, the Texas Rangers catcher saw his batting average drop eight more points to .120.

“If I was striking out or making weak contact, I’d make adjustments," Arencibia said. “But I’m hitting the ball hard. I’ve hit it hard at least once in every game I’ve played, but I don’t have anything to show for it.

“It is just a matter of them falling in."

In Friday’s game, Arencibia hit the ball very hard for a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Left fielder Grady Sizemore had to cover a lot of ground to chase the ball down in the alley.

Arencibia is sharing the catching load with Robinson Chirinos, a .229 hitter. Catcher Geovany Soto is on the 60-day disabled list after undergoing knee surgery.

Up next: The Rangers host the Red Sox in the middle game of a weekend series at 7:05 p.m. CT on Saturday at Globe Life Park.
