The Rangers said Saturday that Choo's departure from the game was for precautionary reasons and the outfielder was walking around the clubhouse without anything on his left ankle Sunday morning.
Choo sprained the ankle April 21 against the A's and was out of the lineup for five games.
"It's something he'll have to manage all year," manager Ron Washington said. "As soon as he came out, I told him he was the DH [Sunday]."
Sunday is the 11th time this season that Choo is the DH and he's one of a group of players Washington has in a semi-regular rotation to get some time off their feet by using them at DH.
Choo is batting .309 with a team-high six homers and 15 RBIs. He leads the AL in on-base percentage at .434.
