ARLINGTON, Texas – Derek Holland went through another pitching session Thursday and is scheduled to throw a simulated game scheduled Saturday.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Holland looked good moving around but still needs to show a comfort level fielding balls while coming off the mound as he recovers from knee surgery.

Washington said the club hasn’t discussed shutting Holland down for the season and that they will continue to be patient waiting for his return, whenever that may be.

“If it takes another month, if it takes two months, it’s what he gets,” Washington said. “We haven’t talked about that. It would crush him if we hit him with something like that. Whatever time it takes we’re going to give it to him.”

Holland said he doesn’t know the Rangers' plan, but he hopes to start a minor league rehab assignment soon.

“I feel great,” Holland said. “And I can field my position and do everything. I practice like I play. I want to get out there and I want to play. Whatever they say I have to do, I respect it.”

Choo plays through ankle injury: Left fielder Shin-Soo Choo has played through a left ankle sprain since April and is hitting just .147 in June.

“It’s getting better every day,” said Choo, who has also has been slowed down on the base paths. “It’s not 100 percent, but some days it feels real good, other days it doesn’t."

Washington said he still believes Choo will get it going based on what he’s done in the past.

Base hits: Yu Darvish is set up to be available to pitch in the July 15 All-Star Game in Minneapolis. However, Darvish noted he'd be honored to be selected but would rather sightsee than pitch even one inning in the game. … Neftali Feliz hasn’t given up a run in his last five appearances (six innings) at Triple-A Round Rock. … Friday’s starter Nick Tepesch (2-3, 4.38) will be going on eight days rest when he faces the Minnesota Twins. Tepesch said he hasn’t changed his pitching routine much with the extra time off.
