ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland will make his first rehab start of the season on Wednesday at Double-A Frisco.

Holland has been on the DL since the start of the season, after undergoing microfracture surgery on his knee. Holland had a bullpen session and some fielding drills on Sunday.

Manager Ron Washington said before the Rangers' 9-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics that Holland didn't look smooth on the mound during fielding drills, but more evaluations would occur.

After the game, Washington said Holland was set for Wednesday's game.

"We'll take it an outing at a time and see how it goes," Washington said.

If Holland has a successful rehab stint of two innings, the Rangers will increase things by one or two more innings.
