ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish is scheduled to visit Dr. Keith Meister on Thursday night for an examination of his right elbow. Club officials won't reveal the result of that examination until Friday.

Darvish is on the 15-day disabled list with mild inflammation in the elbow.

The right-hander is unlikely to return this season; Thursday's examination is more to get an update on his health.

Meanwhile, catcher Robinson Chirinos, who has missed the Rangers' past three games with a stiff neck, received a cortisone injection and is listed as day-to-day.

Right-handed starter Miles Mikolas, who has not since pitched Aug. 25 as he battles shoulder fatigue, also received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder. Team officials said once his symptoms dissipate he'll start a throwing program.

Mikolas has missed his past two starts.
Calvin Watkins joined ESPNDallas.com in September 2009. He's covered the Cowboys since 2006 and also has covered colleges, boxing and high school sports.
