Spring training injury report

By Richard Durrett

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- There are dark clouds over Surprise today and rain is expected, though it may be off and on. The plan is the club will work outside unless it gets where it hinders them. As for injuries, a few minor things:

* RHP Eric Hurley is progressing well and was pleased to get some good news when he walked into the clubhouse Saturday morning. "They told me I can throw a bullpen every third day, so that's great," Hurley said. He threw for seven or eight minutes on Friday in a side session and felt good.

* RHP Doug Mathis had a blister on his middle finger, but it looks more like a small cut now. He said he thinks his thumb nicked it while throwing. He is scheduled to throw on Sunday if things get better. But he was certainly not concerned about it when I talked to him this morning.

The rest of the injury updates the past few days remain the same as guys continue to work out and test their bodies.
