Kinsler goes through fielding, running drills
By Richard Durrett
BOSTON -- Right now at Fenway Park, Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler just completed a workout to test his high right ankle sprain.
He took ground balls in various directions, got some one-on-one instruction time with manager Ron Washington and ran on the outfield grass (where the dirt meets the outfield as if he's running the bases).
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels, trainer Jose Vazquez and Washington kept a close eye on Kinsler. Gary Pettis, Julio Borbon and David Murphy were also on the field taking a look at Kinsler.
If all went well, he could be sent out this week for a rehab assignment.
Also, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is with Triple-A Oklahoma City and is expected to play tonight.
