Michael Young reaches a milestone

By Calvin Watkins

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Third baseman Michael Young hit a one-out single in the fourth inning to move him into sole possession of second place on the Rangers all-time hit list.

Young now has 1,693 hits. He was in a tie for second place with Rafael Palmeiro (1,692). Ivan Rodriguez is the all-time hits leader in franchise history with 1,747.

Matt Harrison has struggled here after getting an 8-0 lead. He allowed a two-run homer to Billy Butler in the fourth to bring the deficit to 8-2. After a walk to Mitch Maier to start the fifth, manager Ron Washington and the trainer came out check on Harrison's health.

Harrison walked Yuniesky Betancourt after the chat, and now the Royals are threatening in the fifth.
