Ian Kinsler chomping at the bit to return
By Richard Durrett
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Second baseman Ian Kinsler will have an MRI on Tuesday to see if the inflammation in his strained left groin has gone down enough to clear him for baseball activity. But Kinsler says he feels 100 percent and if all goes well with the tests, he'd like to immediately go out for a rehab assignment.
"I want to play and get out of here," Kinsler said. "There's no reason for me to be around here. I can see how I'm feeling and play and get ready."
Kinsler hasn't taken batting practice since going on the disabled list on July 29 and has taken some ground balls, but only ones hit right at him. Still, the second baseman believes it won't take him long to get ready. He would rather take batting practice at his rehab location so he can play right away when he feels up to it.
We should know a lot more tomorrow. This will be the 24th straight game that Kinsler has missed because of the groin. He missed 22 games to start the season with a high ankle sprain suffered in spring training.
