Josh Hamilton goes yard, Rangers lead 6-3
By Jeff Caplan
NEW YORK -- Pitching changes just aren't working out well for Yankees manager Joe Girardi. No sooner does he put lefty Boone Logan into the game with two out and Josh Hamilton take him deep to right-center field for his third homer of this series. The Rangers lead the Yankees, 6-3, in the top of the seventh inning as the crowd boos the home team.
The tide turned in the sixth when Girardi chose to intentionally walk David Murphy to put runners at first and second and pitch to catcher Bengie Molina. Molina then put one in the left-field bleachers off starter A.J. Burnett to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead.
Of course, no pitching moves worked for Girardi in the Rangers' six-run ninth inning that ended Game 3.
