Injuries: What's next for Adrian Beltre?
By Richard Durrett
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is going through light workouts as planned on Thursday. The Grade I calf strain is getting better and Beltre is doing more things.
So far, he's been running the bases, taking grounders and hitting. The next steps would likely be stopping and starting on the bases and feeling comfortable with his lateral movement. It's still possible that he could get in a game next week if he continues to progress, though the club isn't putting any timetable on it.
Other injury news:
* RHP Tanner Scheppers received a root nerve injection in the lower right of his back on Wednesday. It means that he will not do anything for 48 hours. He's expected to throw again on Saturday. (When asked how big the needle was, Scheppers said he didn't know. I don't blame him. There's no way I'm looking at that needle.)
* RHP Neftali Feliz's left shin was fine after he threw three innings on Wednesday, so he will no longer be on the injury report.
