Ex-Ranger president overseeing Dodgers

MLB has appointed Tom Schieffer to oversee the Los Angeles Dodgers financial operations.
Schieffer was the Rangers' president from 1991 to 1999 and was the club's general partner from the end of 1994 to the middle of 1998. He joined the club as an investor in a group that included future U.S. President George W. Bush. Schieffer (a Democrat in the Texas House for three terms) later served in Bush's administration as ambassador to Australia and later in the term to Japan.
