Rangers grab three shortstops

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Rangers selected three shortstops on Day 2 of the MLB Draft in Rounds 17, 20 and 21. Here are their picks through Round 22.

Round 16 (504 overall): Trever Adams, a 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder out of Creighton.

Round 17 (534 overall): Ryan Rua, a shortstop from Lake Erie College in Ohio. Rua is 6-2 and 180 pounds.

Round 18 (564 overall): Nicholas Martinez, a right-handed pitcher from Fordham University. Martinez averaged a .295 batting average in three years with 167 hits, 66 RBI’s, and 22 stolen bases. He also went 1-3 in 15 pitching appearances with a 5.47 ERA and 22 strikeouts.

Round 19 (594 overall): Nathan Harsh, a 6-foot-5, 211-pound right-handed pitcher out of Burnswick High School in Georgia.

Round 20 (624 overall): Nickolaus Vickerson, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound shortstop from Mississippi State University.

Round 21 (654 overall): Chance Sossamon, a right-handed pitcher out of Wichita State. In 19 relief appearances, he went 2-1 with a 8.76 ERA and 27 strikeouts.

Round 22 (684 overall): Timothy Costen, a 5-foot-10 shortstop out of First Colonial High School in Virginia.
