Matchup: C.J. Wilson vs. Fausto Carmona

ARLINGTON, Texas -- It’ll be another hot Texas summer night when the Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians continue their three-game set Saturday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (7:05 p.m. 103.3 ESPN Radio/Fox Sports Southwest). Game 2's pitching matchup will feature C.J. Wilson for the Rangers against the Indians’ Fausto Carmona.

Wilson (10-5, 3.38 ERA): He followed up his four-inning performance against Minnesota on July 26 with an outing Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays that lasted 3 2/3 innings -- his shortest this season. In his last two starts, Wilson is 0-1 with an 11.74 ERA. ... Wilson still ranks in the top 10 of the American League in wins and winning percentage (.667), but he hasn’t tasted a victory since July 16 against the Seattle Mariners. ... Wilson has had success against the Indians since he became a starting pitcher in 2010. He’s 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA, allowing one earned run in 13 2/3 innings.

Carmona (5-11, 5.31 ERA): He's making his second start against the Rangers this season. In 6 1/3 innings, Carmona allowed four earned runs on seven hits as the Rangers defeated the Indians 4-0 on June 4. ... Carmona is 2-7 with a 5.43 ERA against the Rangers in 10 starts. ... He was the Indians’ ace at the start of the season, but he could never get on track after allowing 10 runs in three innings on Opening Day against the Chicago White Sox. Though his record and ERA for the season aren’t so spectacular, Carmona has improved over his last four starts. He’s 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA and has lasted six or more innings in his previous three outings.

Hitters: The Indians are 17-for-70 against Wilson with a .341 on-base percentage. Asdrubal Cabrera is 1-for-8 with two strikeouts and Carlos Santana is 1-for-5 with a walk and a strikeout. Austin Kearns has the most hits, three, on the active roster. ... The Rangers have a .322 batting average against Carmona with a .593 slugging percentage. Josh Hamilton has the most hits on the team against Carmon with seven while David Murphy is 6-for-9 against Carmona with three RBIs and two walks. Nelson Cruz and Michael Young have five hits a piece.
