Texas signs 48th-round pick, hopes for more
By Richard Durrett
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Rangers have agreed to terms with RHP C.J. Edwards, the club's 48th-round selection in the June draft. They have now agreed to terms with 27 of the 51 players selected.
The deadline to sign picks is 11 p.m. Dallas time today.
The Rangers will not be signing the fifth- and sixth-round picks, RHP Brandon Woodruff and CF Derek Fisher, a couple of high school players. Of the top picks the club is still negotiating with is catcher Max Pentecost from Winder-Barrow High School in Georgia. We'll see if they can get him locked up before the deadline.
