Matchup: D. Holland vs. Gavin Floyd

The finale of this series features LHP Derek Holland and RHP Gavin Floyd at 1:10 p.m. on FSSW and ESPN 103.3 FM. Here's a brief look at the matchup:

Holland (11-4, 4.23 ERA): He comes in with four shutouts, tied with James Shields for the AL lead (Holland, Shields and Cliff Lee, who has five, are the only big league pitchers with at least four shutouts). ... In Holland's last eight starts (since July 7), he is 5-0 with a 2.63 ERA with 14 walks and 43 strikeouts. ... He has three shutouts in those eight starts and has pitched into the ninth inning four times. ... Holland has the highest run support average in the majors at 7.13 per nine innings. ... He was one out away from a complete game in a win over the Angels on Tuesday, allowing three runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in 8 2/3 innings. ... Holland is 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA in three career appearances against the White Sox. That includes one start this season on May 24 in Arlington, where he gave up four runs in four innings.

Floyd (10-10, 4.66 ERA): He is 4-1 with a 4.91 ERA over his last six starts and has allowed 18 earned runs in his last three outings, yet the White Sox have won two of those games. ... Floyd has won four of his last five decisions. In his lone loss in that span, he gave up 10 runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings against the Yankees earlier this month. ... Floyd gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in seven innings in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers earlier this year. ... Floyd is 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA in his career vs. Texas, including six runs allowed in 2 2/3 innings in his lone start against them in Chicago.

Hitters: Josh Hamilton is 6-for-10 with four RBIs off Floyd. ... Michael Young is 4-for-12 and Ian Kinsler 3-for-10. ... David Murphy and Nelson Cruz are a combined 3-for-15. ... Holland hasn't faced any White Sox hitter more than five times. ... Carlos Quentin has done the most damage, going 2-for-2 with two homers and four RBIs.
