Brent Lillibridge HR gives White Sox lead
The White Sox struck for four runs in the third inning Sunday afternoon to take a 4-0 lead against Derek Holland and the Rangers at U.S. Cellular Field.
Brent Lillibridge's 11th homer of the year followed Juan Pierre's single and provided Chicago with a 2-0 lead. Lillebridge hit a hanging breaking ball from Holland out to left field.
Holland retired the next two batters but then walked Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers. Alejandro De Aza followed with a two-run double to cap the rally.
The Rangers didn't have much luck against White Sox starter Gavin Floyd through three innings.
Floyd held the Rangers to one hit and a walk with three strikeouts, all in the second inning.
The Rangers had a good chance to score in the second inning when Mike Napoli reached third base with one out, but Floyd struck out Mitch Moreland and Yorvit Torrealba to end the threat.
Napoli led off the second with a single, extending his road hitting streak to 22 games, and went third when a pickoff attempt got away from first baseman Lillibridge.
