Rangers ship Pedro Strop to Orioles
Right-handed pitcher Pedro Strop was acquired by the Baltimore Orioles on a waiver claim to complete Wednesday's trade for Michael Gonzalez.
Strop was on the Rangers Opening Day roster for the first time in his career. He was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on May 4 and has gone 4-4 with 11 saves and a 3.59 ERA (19 ER/47.2 IP) in 39 relief appearances for the Express this season.
He went 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA (4 ER/9.2 IP) in 11 games with Texas before being optioned. Strop was signed by Texas as a free agent on September 25, 2008 and has appeared in the big leagues with the Rangers each of the past three seasons, going a combined 0-1 with a 7.24 ERA in 33 appearances.
