Michael Young tops 100 RBIs with 3-run double
By Randy Jennings
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Michael Young looks like he wants to stay in the Rangers’ cleanup spot.
The veteran designated hitter’s bases-loaded double foiled Cleveland’s strategy of intentionally walking Josh Hamilton to load the bases in the fifth. Young’s shot to left field opened a 4-0 lead. Young now has 101 RBIs, the second time he’s gone over 100 in a season. His career mark is 103 in 2006.
Cleanup candidate Adrian Beltre followed with his 25th home run of the year with Young aboard to widen the Texas lead to 6-0. Beltre extended his hitting streak to a career-high 19 games.
The Rangers' lead is 6-0 going to the seventh and Darren Oliver is taking over for Alexi Ogando, who had a great start. Ogando allowed two hits in six innings, walked two and struck out four. He sailed through his final four innings.
