ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Game 4 of the ALDS features LHP Matt Harrison vs. RHP Jeremy Hellickson. The game will be at 1:07 p.m. central time on TBS and on ESPN 103.3 FM. We will be live chatting during the game as well. A look at the matchup:
Harrison (14-9, 3.39 ERA): The 26-year-old is making his first start in the postseason in his career. ...He did get a chance to pitch in Game 2, at least giving him a sense of the postseason experience. He threw 15 pitches and got two outs after allowing a walk and a hit (Mike Gonzalez allowed an inherited runner to score and it was charged to Harrison). ...His last start was Wednesday in Anaheim, the final game of the regular season. He allowed one run on five hits in six innings with a walk and four strikeouts. ...Harrison hasn't started against the Rays since Aug. 16, 2008, when he pitched eight scoreless innings on three hits with eight strikeouts. ...He was 4-0 with a 2.64 ERA in five starts in September and the Rangers won all five of those games.
Hellickson (13-10, 2.95 ERA): In his first full season in the majors, the 24-year-old led big league rookies with a 2.95 ERA, 189 innings pitched, 29 starts and 20 quality starts. ...He was also third in the majors with a .210 opponent batting average, behind Justin Verlander (.192) and Clayton Kershaw (.207). ...He was third among AL starters with a 2.64 ERA after the All-Star break. ...He has allowed three runs or fewer in 30 of his 33 career starts. ...Hellickson has faced the Rangers once in his career, taking a 2-0 loss to Scott Feldman on Aug. 30 at Texas. He gave up two runs on six hits in six innings, but had four walks.
Hitters: Josh Hamilton is 2-for-3 with a homer off Hellickson. ...David Murphy is 2-for-2. ...Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler are a combined 0-for-7 against Hellickson. ...Two Tampa hitters have given Harrison particular trouble: Evan Longoria is 4-for-4, HR, 3 RBIs and Johnny Damon is 5-for-10 with two strikeouts. ...Casey Kotchman is 0-for-7 and Ben Zobrist is 1-for-8.
