Texas roster: Mark Lowe, Matt Treanor added

By Richard Durrett

ST. LOUIS -- The Rangers have announced their World Series roster and have decided to add catcher Matt Treanor to the bench and Mark Lowe to the bullpen. That means Koji Uehara and Yoshinori Tateyama were taken off the roster to make room.

Lowe has been dealing with a Grade II left hamstring strain suffered Sept. 21, but has rehabbed and said the past few days that he was ready to go. Lowe was 2-3 with a 3.80 ERA in 45 innings for the Rangers this season.

Treanor, traded from Texas to Kansas City in the final week of the season and then reacquired before the August waiver trade deadline, will be available off the bench. The extra bench spot means the Rangers can pinch run for either catcher and know they have the extra backstop. Treanor, 35, is still looking for his first hit with the Rangers this season, appearing in just seven games and going 0-for-10.

Uehara allowed five runs on five hits -- three of them homers in 1 1/3 innings (33.75 ERA) -- in the postseason. Tateyama, 35, pitched in just two-thirds of an inning and gave up a hit in his lone appearance of the playoffs.
