Key stat: Rangers' BP throws 117 pitches

By Jean-Jacques Taylor

The Rangers didn't just get hammered on the scoreboard, St. Louis decimated their seven-man bullpen.

The Rangers' bullpen threw a whopping 117 pitches. We may see the residue of that for the next two games.

If Derek Holland doesn't go deep into Game 4 on Sunday, Ron Washington and Mike Maddux will have to use duct tape as a bridge to Mike Adams in the eighth and Neftali Feliz in the ninth.

Don't expect to see Alexi Ogando, who threw 35 pitches in the sixth inning when he yielded four runs. Mark Lowe threw 23 pitches and might only be good for a batter or two. The same goes for Mike Gonzalez, usually a left-handed specialist, who threw 19 pitches.

Scott Feldman, the long man in the bullpen, threw 24 pitches.

The bullpen is a mess. The series is in jeopardy.

The Rangers need Holland to rescue them.
