Dose of Darvish: Worthy of All-Star pick?

By Jeff Fletcher

OAKLAND, Calif. — Yu Darvish's impressive rookie season has him in the conversation for the All-Star team. It doesn’t hurt that his manager will be picking the final pitchers and reserves.

When Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington was asked if he viewed Darvish as a candidate for the All-Star team, he said, “Why not? He’s one of the top winners in the American League.”

Darvish is 7-3 with a 3.34 ERA. He entered Tuesday’s action as one of seven pitchers tied for the league lead with seven victories.

Darvish said he’s not sure if he’s deserving.

“I think just looking at my numbers it’s not a bad performance, but the substance or approach of my outings … it’s been good and bad," Darvish said. "Looking overall, I can’t say if I should make the All-Star team.”
