OAKLAND, Calif. — The final game of this four-game series between the Texas Rangers and Oakland A’s features RHP Yu Darvish vs. RHP Brandon McCarthy at 2:37 p.m. on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and FSSW. A quick look at the matchup:

Darvish (7-3, 3.21): The Rangers’ 25-year-old Japanese phenom slightly altered his leg kick in his previous outing, a loss Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels. Darvish, who gave up three earned runs in 6 1/3 innings, said that he simply went back to mechanics he used more in Japan. … Darvish is tied for the league lead in victories. … He beat the A’s on May 16 in Arlington, allowing one run in 7 2/3 innings. … He's 6-3 with a 2.92 ERA over his past 10 starts.

McCarthy (4-3, 2.95): The 28-year-old former Rangers pitcher is making his second start since coming off the disabled list with a shoulder problem. … He gave up two runs in six innings in his previous outing, against the Royals. … He's won four consecutive decisions, with a 2.53 ERA over five starts. … His winning streak equals his career best. … He is just 1-4 with a 4.53 ERA in 10 career games against the Rangers, including eight starts. … He allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision at Texas on May 17.

Hitters: Current Rangers have hit a combined .307 against McCarthy. … Adrian Beltre is 12-for-28 (.429) with two homers. … Mitch Moreland is 5-for-13 with two homers. … Nelson Cruz is 1-for-14. … Jemile Weeks, who had two hits, was the only player with multiple hits against Darvish in their meeting earlier this season.
