Minor leaguer Jake Skole suspended
By Clint Foster
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jake Skole, the Texas Rangers' first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2010 MLB draft, has been suspended 50 games without pay after testing positive for a performance-enhancing amphetamine that is in violation of the minor league drug prevention and treatment program.
The outfielder for the Single-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League tested positive a few weeks ago and attempted to appeal the result. The commisioner's office enacted Skole's suspension Friday, effective immediately.
"It is what it is," general manager Jon Daniels said. "He made a mistake that's what the system is for. He'll serve his punishment."
