Mark Lowe's injury, Tigers game not related

By Clint Foster

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers reliever Mark Lowe said that his strained right intercostal muscle injury is not related to his career-high three innings pitched against the Detroit Tigers on June 25.

"This is something that I've been dealing with for about three and a half weeks now," Lowe said. "Usually I get up, I get loose and I don't feel anything. The past three days, I haven't been able to truly get loose and I'm feeling something in there."

Lowe has been placed on the 15-day disabled list for his injury to the muscles that form the chest wall. He said that he threw 70-feet Friday and it didn't feel good, so the team decided to be cautious and rest him until after the All-Star break.

Lowe said that the injury is not serious and he expects to make a full and quick recovery.

"It's just something that I didn't want to linger on until September and then get hurt like I did last year," Lowe said.
