Yu Darvish doesn't pitch, but enjoys game
By Richard Durrett
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish did not pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game. Manager Ron Washington and pitching coaches Mike Maddux and Andy Hawkins decided that Darvish would be in reserve in case they needed someone who could pitch multiple innings late or if the game went to extra innings.
Darvish watched from the dugout, hanging out near bench coach Jackie Moore and teammates Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus before they went into the game. The 25-year-old did have one quick comment after the game.
"It was my first All-Star Game," Darvish said through an interpreter. "I was able to meet and talk to some of the players, so I enjoyed it."
