According to Elias Sports Bureau, Beltre is the first big-league player this season to have a walk-off RBI in a nine-inning game after recording a lead-changing RBI in the seventh inning or later in that same game.

Beltre hit the home run off an 83-mph slider up in the zone from Pat Neshek. Beltre said he was looking for a slider.

"I saw sliders -- all sliders," Beltre said. "The chart says he throws a lot of sliders. He threw me two that I missed, the last one was up in the strike zone and I was able to put a good swing on it."

ESPN Stats & Information notes the "chart" was right. Neshek has thrown 78 percent sliders against righties this season, tied with Sergio Romo for the highest percentage in baseball. Neshek has thrown 352 sliders to righties since 2010 and Beltre is the first to homer against the pitch. Monday's homer gave him 10 against sliders this season, which leads all of baseball.
