Nick Swisher agrees to deal with Cleveland
By Richard Durrett
Outfielder Nick Swisher is heading to Cleveland, he confirmed on his Twitter account Sunday morning. A source told ESPN that it's a four-year deal worth $56 million and includes a $14 million vesting option for a fifth season.
Swisher was a name we tossed out on the blog last week and discussed how he made some sense for the Rangers (a switch-hitter who could play corner outfield and first base). But at 32 years old, I'm not sure the Rangers would have considered a four-year deal.
Swisher is the latest free-agent outfielder to get a deal this weekend. Raul Ibanez agreed to a one-year, $2.75 million deal with the Seattle Mariners, according to an Associated Press report.
