David Murphy only arbitration-eligible Ranger
By Richard Durrett
ARLINGTON, Texas -- With the signings of Matt Harrison to a five-year, $55 million deal and Neftali Feliz to a one-year, $2.9 deal (plus incentives), the Rangers now have only one arbitration eligible player left to sign: outfielder David Murphy.
Today clubs can exchange arbitration figures with players, which will indicate how far apart the two sides are. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels expressed confidence that a deal will get done to avoid a hearing. The Rangers have not had an arbitration case advance to a hearing since Lee Stevens in 2000.
Murphy hit .304 with 15 home runs and 61 RBIs in 147 games last season and earned $3.625 million.
