Matchup: Darvish/Perez vs. Skaggs/Cahill

The Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks play a day-night doubleheader on Monday with right-hander Yu Darvish and left-hander Martin Perez going for the Rangers against Diamondbacks left-hander Tyler Skaggs and right-hander Trevor Cahill.
Game 1 starts at 2:40 p.m. while Game 2 is at 8:40 p.m. Both games are on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN-FM 103.3 and 1540-AM.
Perez (first start): Martin Perez makes his first start after the season, completely a trek back from a broken left wrist suffered during spring training ... The 21-year-old left-hander flew from Memphis to Phoenix to join the club ... Perez started last Tuesday in a rehab outing against Reno and had seven shutout innings, allowing three hits while throwing 77 pitches ... His last major league appearance was Oct. 1 against Oakland when he allowed four runs in four innings ... Perez was knocked out of a spring training game on March 3 when a line drive struck his left wrist ... He is a combined 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA for his four rehab starts for Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock.
Skaggs (first start): Skaggs gets the call-up from Triple-A for the first game of Monday's doubleheader ... He was 4-5 with a 5.23 ERA for nine starts at Triple-A Reno ... He has a .263 opponents batting average with 54 strikeouts and 17 walks ... Skaggs entered 2013 as the Diamondbacks' No. 1 prospect by Baseball America ... He was Arizona's 2011 Organization Pitcher of the Year ... Skaggs was acquired in the same trade as standout pitcher Patrick Corbin in a deal that sent Dan Haren to the Los Angeles Angels ... Skaggs started six games for the D-backs last season, going 1-3 with a 5.83 ERA.
Darvish (7-2, 2.84): Darvish makes his 11th start of the season ... He leads all American League pitchers with 23 wins since the start of 2012 ... He took a tough loss on Tuesday against Oakland, allowing a run in six innings ... He threw 102 pitches after firing 130 pitches in his previous start against Detroit ... Darvish allowed his only run against the A's on a home run by Yoenis Cespedes, the fifth straight game the Rangers' ace has allowed a homer ... The loss to the A's ended a five-game-winning streak for Darvish .. Darvish is 11-2 with a 2.45 ERA for his last 16 regular-season starts ... He is facing the Diamondbacks for the first in his career.
Cahill (3-5, 2.81): Cahill has been pitching well, 3-2 with a 2.31 ERA in his last six starts ... He lost his last start 4-1 to the Colorado Rockies on May 22, allowing four earned runs in six innings ... He is 1-1 with a 1.07 ERA in his last four home games ... Among all pitchers at home since April 14 he ranks fourth in ERA behind Hiroki Kuroda (0.90) ... Cahill has allowed four earned runs or less in 28 starts since June 27, 2012 ... Cahill, in his second season with Arizona after three with Oakland, is 6-3 with a 2.90 ERA for his last 11 starts against the Rangers.
Hitters: Adrian Beltre (9-for-26, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs) has fared well against Cahill. Cody Ross has a hit in four at-bats against Darvish. Skaggs and Perez have never faced either opponent.
