But we haven't seen the last of 20-year-old Jurickson Profar in the leadoff spot.

Manager Ron Washington said on his weekly segment with Fitzsimmons & Durrett on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM that Profar will hit leadoff again when Berkman is out, meaning one of his best hitters, Kinsler, will bat in the most the most important spot in the lineup, the three-hole.

"It depends on when I play (Jurickson) and who is in the lineup," Washington said of where he'll work in Profar.

Profar has made four starts in the leadoff spot, including the last two games. He has made four starts batting second. He has batted in the eighth spot seven times and last six times.

Other Wash nuggets:

  • Washington wouldn't commit to left-hander Martin Perez taking over a spot in the rotation. Perez is 4-0 in his last four starts for Triple-A Round Rock. "I don't have a timetable on that," Washington said. "We're getting good reports. We'll sit down and discuss our personnel, and when the time comes we'll make a move."

  • Washington on how much of Sunday night's postgame meeting with his players after a sixth straight loss could have been aired on the radio: "None if it," he said.
