Matchup: Alexi Ogando vs. Tommy Milone

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers and Oakland A's open a key three-game series Friday night with right-hander Alexi Ogando facing left-hander Tommy Milone. First pitch is slated for 9:07 p.m. on Ch. 21 and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and ESPN Deportes Dallas 1540 AM.
Ogando (4-3, 3.05): The Rangers will look to Ogando to pitch deeper into games when he makes his 13th start Friday night. ... Ogando didn't make it out of the fifth inning in a 6-0 loss to Cleveland on Sunday. ... Ogando allowed a run in 4 2/3 innings and left with Texas trailing 1-0. ... He had pitched four shutout innings before allowing a run in the fifth. ... Ogando went five innings in his start before that against the New York Yankees, his first since coming off the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. ... On the positive side, Ogando has allowed more than two earned runs in just three of his 12 starts, but he's pitched past the sixth inning only twice. ... Ogando is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 16 games and two starts against Oakland. ... He beat the A's on May 15 in Oakland, allowing two runs in six innings. ... Ogando had a no-hitter through five innings in that start and went on the disabled list the next day.
Milone (9-8, 4.03): Milone has been on a winning streak for the A's, going 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA for his past five starts. ... He is 6-3 with a 4.35 ERA in his past 13 starts. ... Milone has been at his best at O.co Coliseum, where he is 5-3 with a 2.97 in nine starts. ... Milone beat the Los Angeles Angels in his last start Saturday, allowing a run and four hits in seven innings. ... He had six strikeouts and four walks. ... Milone has allowed a .196 batting average with runners in scoring position, third-lowest in the American League. ... Milone has never beaten Texas, going 0-3 with a 4.24 ERA in four starts, all at Rangers Ballpark. ... He allowed six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings in a 9-4 loss to the Rangers on June 19.
Hitters: The A's are batting .233 against Ogando. Eric Sogard (1-for-4) broke up Ogando's no-hit bid May 15. Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre are both 5-for-12 against Milone. Beltre has two home runs and three RBIs.
