Rangers reorganize minor league staff

By Richard Durrett

The Texas Rangers are reorganizing part of the minor-league operations, with Mike Daly overseeing the daily operations of the farm system. He was previously the international scouting director (since November 2009). The club has not named anyone to take his place yet.

Daly takes over for Tim Purpura, who was reassigned last month from his role as senior director of player development.

The 34-year-old Daly will report to A.J. Preller, the senior director of player personnel. He also now oversees the scouting department for the organization.

Daly, who played collegiate baseball at LSU, just completed his seventh season with the Rangers and helped set up and run the club's academy in the Dominican Republic. The Rangers have had success internationally over the past few seasons, including Colby Lewis and Yu Darvish out of Japan and Jurickson Profar and Jairo Beras (to name a few) as signees in Latin America.
