Renovated Diamond Club has new sponsor

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Diamond Club is now the Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Club and will have a new look in time for Opening Day.
Jack Daniel's signed a three-year deal with the Rangers and will have naming rights to the Diamond Club, which overlooks the field at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington from the outfield. It's the same name as the company has at American Airlines Center, near the Stars' and Mavericks' locker rooms. The 14,381 square foot facility has had some walls removed to open up the area and will go through an altered seating arrangement and get a new bar near the center of the room. It will be open to season-ticket holders.
"We've taken out the carpet and we will modify the rails to put in some different seating clusters," said Rob Matwick, executive vice president of ballpark operations. "It has a new bar as well. This area hadn't been touched since the ballpark opened. The original carpet was 20 years old and it needed updating."
The club has now spent about $40 million the past four offseasons on ballpark upgrades. This offseason, that also includes replacing 1,098 seats in the 69 suites on the Upper Level with new padded seats that the Lower Suite Level received last offseason. The club is also building a new suite kitchen near the press box and there will be white LED lighting on the exterior of the ballpark. All of those changes are costing $4.5 to $5 million, Matwick said.
Matwick said that there are still some seats that the organization may replace in future offseasons and that the next project could be renovating the All-You-Can-Eat seats at the top of the Home Run Porch.
Matwick also said the Majestic Grand Slam gift shop is getting a makeover and is closed until March. The gift shop behind home plate remains open and can be accessed from Nolan Ryan Blvd.
