Veteran pitcher Jose Contreras was offered re-assignment to minor league camp, part of a flurry of roster moves the team made on Monday.

Contreras, 42, is weighing his options, which could include retiring.

Pitchers Nick Tepesch, Cory Burns and Miles Mikolas along with infielder Andy Parrino were optioned to Triple-A. Pitcher Daniel Bard, recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in January, was re-assigned to minor league camp along with outfielders Brad Snyder and Bryan Peterson, catchers Patrick Cantwell and Brett Nicholas and infielder Kensuke Tanaka.

The Rangers now have 30 players remaining in big-league camp.

The Texas Rangers claimed infielder Andy Parrino off waivers from the Oakland A's on Monday. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the club placed Derek Holland on the 60-day disabled list.

Parrino has played second base, third baes, shortstop, left field and right field in the big leagues. The 28-year-old played in 14 games for the A's last season and was also in the majors with San Diego in 2011 and 2012. He was at Triple-A Sacramento for most of last season, batting .210 with four homers and 36 RBIs in 108 games. He has a career .186 average in the majors in 93 games (194 at-bats).

Parrino is expected to be in camp Tuesday.

Holland is still rehabbing from knee surgery and has not yet joined the club in Arizona.
