ARLINGTON, Texas -- The third game of this four-game set between the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins features RHP Ryan Dempster as he searches for consecutive wins for the first time since joining the club vs. LHP Brian Duensing. The game is at 3:05 p.m. on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and Fox. A look at the matchup:

Dempster (7-6, 2.99 ERA): The righty makes his fifth start for the Rangers since being traded from Chicago. He's had two quality starts, including a four-hit win over eight innings in his last outing, and two starts in which he's given up eight runs in each. ... Dempster is 2-3 with a 5.79 ERA in his last six starts overall (two with the Cubs) to raise his ERA from 1.86.

Duensing (3-8, 4.46 ERA): Was moved to the starting rotation June 30 after 30 relief appearances. ... He won his last start on Aug. 20 at Oakland, allowing one run on five hits in six innings. ... He's gone at least six innings in each of his last five starts and has allowed 13 earned runs in his last 31 innings pitched. ... In eight games (four starts) against the Rangers, he is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA. He has one relief appearance against Texas this season, allowing two earned runs 1 1/3 innings.

Hitters: Duensing doesn't have an extensive history against Rangers batters, but Elvis Andrus is batting .400 off him in his career with a double among four hits in 10 at-bats. Adrian Beltre has two hits, including a double, in three at-bats. ... Twins third baseman Jamey Carroll is hitting .364 off Dempster with four singles and a walk in 12 plate appearances. Ryan Doumit has faced Dempster 25 times, by far the most on the club, and has just four hits (.174), all singles.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The second game of this series between the Rangers and Twins features LHP C.J. Wilson vs. LHP Brian Duensing. Both pitchers are in the middle of five-game win streaks. Here's a quick look at the matchup:

Wilson (12-5, 3.02 ERA): He's won his last five decisions over a span of seven starts and has a 2.20 ERA in those outings. His 3.02 ERA is the fifth-best in the AL and leads the Rangers staff. He's coming off a 2-0 win over Baltimore in which he was one out shy of a complete-game shutout. He gave up just three hits and had 12 strikeouts and one walk. Wilson is 0-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 18 career games against Minnesota. He's made just one start vs. the Twins, giving up five runs on six innings on May 29.

Duensing (7-1, 1.92 ERA): He was inserted in the rotation about a month ago when Nick Blackburn was struggling and was sent down to Triple-A. Duensing is 4-0 in six starts with a 2.18 ERA. He gave up one run on seven hits in eight innings with six strikeouts in a win over the Angels last week. Duensing is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA in his career against Texas. That does include one start, Aug. 28, 2009, in which he allowed one run on three hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts and one walk at home.

Hitters: Only four Rangers have faced Duensing -- Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, David Murphy and Elvis Andrus and all are a combined 3-for-16 with one RBI against him. Current Twins players are batting .143 against Wilson. The top hitter is Denard Span at 2-for-8. Joe Mauer is 1-for-14 with three strikeouts against Wilson.
