Rangers general manager John Daniels and Franklin are scheduled to continue talks on a new contract.
Kinsler said there is nothing new to report regarding contract talks. He's batting leadoff in the exhibition finale.
“I would love to get a deal that probably in the long run is going to be team-friendly,” Kinsler said after Tuesday night's game. “I would have no problem with that. I want to stay here. It’s just a matter of them deciding what they think is fair, I guess, or if they’re able to get to a number to show me they appreciate me.”
Kinsler is considered one of the better second basemen in baseball.
What to pay him is at issue.
Atlanta’s Dan Uggla has the largest contract for a second baseman at five years and $62 million, signed last January. Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees has the highest yearly salary of any second baseman at $14 million this season. There is a club option for $15 million for 2013.
