Rangers draft 3 area high school products

The MLB draft wrapped up with rounds 31-50 on Wednesday, and the Rangers wound up taking three products of Dallas-area high schools.

The Rangers selected right-handed pitcher Nicholas Sawyer on Tuesday in the 29th round. Sawyer graduated from Hebron High School in 2010 and spent the last year at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas.

Right-hander Kaleb Merck, a Keller High product who pitched the last two years at TCU, was the Rangers' 43rd-round pick.

In the 45th round, the Rangers selected Fort Worth Southwest lefty Brandon Finnegan, who is committed to TCU.
