ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers-Los Angeles Angels game will not start before 5 p.m. CT Saturday because of rain, the club announced. The first pitch was scheduled for 3:05 p.m.

Both teams want to get the game in today if possible, but that’s dependent on if the rain ceases and they get a window to get the game in. Club officials are expected to give another update in a few hours.

The tarp has been on the field since after last night’s game, and rain has been falling at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington since this morning.

If the game is played, Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Rangers against Angels’ Ervin Santana. Texas came into the day three games up in the AL West and with a magic number of three to clinch. The Angels are two games behind the Oakland A’s in the wild card race.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- A large bolt of lightning and some loud thunder prompted a weather delay in the top of the fourth inning of the series finale between the Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins.

The delay began at 7:11 p.m. The tarp is being put on the field. There is rain in the area, but the storms are reported as not being severe.

Throughout the entire game, there has been a strong wind that has caused debris to fly around Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Rangers turn tarp into giant Slip 'N Slide

Some of the Rangers had a little fun by sliding across the wet tarp at Camden Yards during Friday's rain delay.

Rangers bullpen catcher Josh Frasier documented the shenanigans and posted the video on his Twitter account, @Frasier66.

The video shows seven players running together out of the Rangers dugout on the third-base line. The players can be seen diving and sliding on the tarp toward right field, then turning around to run and dive again toward the third-base line before returning to the dugout.

It sounds like the fans in Baltimore enjoyed the show.
