The Rangers have signed 30-year-old first baseman/outfielder Val Majewski to a minor league contract and assigned him to Round Rock (AAA).

Majewski had a brief major league stop in Baltimore in 2004, going 2-for-13 (.154) with a double, RBI, and three runs in nine career games.

He was originally selected by Baltimore in the third round (76th overall) of the 2002 June draft and remained in the Orioles organization until his release on March 28, 2008.

Majewski began this season with York in the independent Atlantic League, batting .317 with 11 homers, 48 RBIs and 63 runs over 71 games, landing a spot in the league's all-star game.
