Mavs must attack rack to get out of rut
“We’ve got to get more aggressive,” Marion said. “We’ve been having the tendency to settle and that’s costing us. When we’re aggressive and attack the basket more, that opens up everything else.”
The Mavs shot 36 percent from the floor in low-scoring losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks last week. They attempted significantly more 3-pointers (53) than field goals (34) during their first back-to-back losses of the season.
“You’ve got to drive the ball,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “You’ve got to get fouled and get to the free throw line. Drives set up better 3s. We definitely need to drive the ball more, but we don’t want to run over people. It’s got to be off the right moves and actions, but overall aggressiveness is a must to win in this league, especially against good teams.”
With the Phoenix Suns in town tonight, the Mavs’ offensive issues better be fixed.
