Bellator Fighting Championship returns to San Antonio less than four months after its last visit to the area, when it hosted Bellator 20 at the Majestic Theatre in May.
The Sept. 2 Bellator 27, which will showcase three bouts for the upcoming heavyweight tournament, will again reside at the 2,300-seat venue. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.
No bouts have been confirmed for the event as of yet, but in addition to the fighters that will be included in the heavyweight tournament, look for the most talented fighters in South Texas to fill the preliminary card.
"San Antonio is a great fight town, and we were embraced very enthusiastically by the city's MMA fans during our first visit to the Majestic Theater back in May," Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney said. "We can't wait to return on Sept. 2 with a full card of eight more exciting fights."
With the addition of Bellator 27, three of the four major Texas cities will now host key MMA events at the end of the summer. Houston will kick things off Aug. 21 with its Strikeforce event, followed by Bellator 27 in San Antonio and capped off with UFC Fight Night 22 in Austin on Sept. 15. North Texas looks to be the only major Texas market left out of influx of national-based MMA action coming to the Lone Star State over the next couple months.
Bellator 27 will be broadcast live via Fox Sports Net.
