Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson suffered a groin injury in Wednesday's game against Team USA at the World Championship and he is not expected to play in Friday's game against France.

Eriksson was injured late in the game when he got tangled up with USA defensemen Mark Stuart and Mike Komisarek in front the of the USA net and took a couple of cross checks. He struggled to get up and then limped off the ice. (Video of the play is here)

Eriksson did not practice today, but was said to be doing better. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

Swedish team doctor Peter Strom did not rule out Eriksson possiblybeing able to play Sunday against Switzerland, but said the team would be cautious with the injury.

"We'll play it safe rather than be sorry," Strom told Expressen.

Eriksson is the third member of the Stars to get injured while playing for Sweden at the World Championship. Forward Tom Wandell was knocked out of the tournament with a shoulder injury he suffered in an exhibition game. Defenseman Nicklas Grossman missed Sweden's last game with a knee injury.
