The Stars and Coyotes are about 25 minutes from dropping the puck here at the AAC, and with both teams coming off Saturday games, we'll be watching both backup goalies tonight.
For the Stars, that means the return of Marty Turco, who hasn't played since losing to Colorado last Sunday. Turco is 20-19-10 with a 2.79 GAA and a .911 save percentage.
Coach Marc Crawford had hinted last night that Turco would probably start today because Turco has shut out Phoenix the last two times these teams met. The Stars won at Phoenix on Feb. 13, 3-0, and they won at home against the Coyotes on Feb. 6, 4-0. Of course, Phoenix beat the Stars the first three times the teams met this season.
Phoenix will go with Jason LaBarbera in goal. He hasn't played much this season because Ilya Bryzgalov has been so good, but LaBarbera's numbers are solid: 6-4-1, 2.19 GAA, .927 save percentage.
Even though both teams played yesterday, Dallas should be the more rested team. The Stars played right here yesterday afternoon, beating Ottawa, 5-4. Meanwhile, Phoenix played a night home game -- an exhilirating battle with Chicago that went to a shootout before the Coyotes prevailed, 5-4 -- then had to make the plane trip to Dallas.
